So I reached out to a restaurant owner about doing some work for them and we got to discussing the job over text. They asked for my availability and when I gave it to them they tried to get me to come in to work my first shift without ever discussing what my pay would be. That is a red flag to me and when I pressed the matter further they even seemed a bit annoyed. I offered my references dating back at least 10 years which they didn’t even take the time reach out to. They offered me an hourly rate and when I told them what I would want (only a few dollar difference) they refused to budge. I politely declined their job offer and got a snarky message hours later saying how they pay the best in the area (they don’t) and they wrongly quoted me what other restaurants in the area pay. Morale of the story is know your worth and stick to you guns
