I’m a graphic designer/art director. I interviewed for a position through an external recruiter. Full-time, sounded like a good fit. Right before the interview, they started fishing around about possibly doing a contract position. I was irritated but took the interview anyway. The interview was great. I clicked well with the hiring manager. Then two days later I get offered a single 10-20 hour project. I was irritated but took it out of a feeling of desperation (even though I haven’t even finished my current gig and have plenty of options). When the onboard Ardmore process became more and more ridiculous (asking me to print out and scan in forms etc), I finally decided I’m sick of being treated like this. I told the recruiter I’d gotten a better offer and said screw it. I’m sick of these fearful hiring managers who can’t tell weather or not from my portfolio and interview, and think they can give me shitty offers just because I’m currently freelancing. I have value and I’m not going to be treated like a piece of meat.
