I’m a first year automotive apprentice about to be a second year. Not the most desirable of hires as the position is associated with someone learning the trade and a liability but I still value my time as I do all the jobs the mechanics don’t want to waste their time with and I have a track record of very minimal mistakes. My current coworkers really value me and my manager is great but I found my self taking an interview at a high end German car dealership that’s closer to home to cut my commute down due to gas prices. Interview went so well I was offered the job until pay discussions where I was offered 2 dollars less hourly and the fact that I had the audacity to ask if they could match my current hourly pay brought the service manager to tell me that if I’m in it for the money then that’s a problem. Sorry that gas is $2/L and inflation is the worst I’ve ever known actually I think I’ll just work for free sorry for the the inconvenience.
