a comparison of college prices(ger-usa)

Im a german with abitur and currently in a social year. Im now starting to send the first applications(that the right word?) Since wintersemester applicationtime is starting for some unis/colleges(they are hochschule right?) On avere the pay per semester is around 400€ usually less. Unless ive missed something in terms of trap costs, this is laughable compared to what i see on this thread. Even if book costs add up, and even if i wasnt incredeably lucky enough to have my parents finance me, i wouldnt end up in much of dept… There is child support money – 210€ if i remember correctly as well as Bafög, which depends on parents earnings(if not estranged i think, ive yet to look it up properly thats why i have no number on it yet) but considering my admittably higher middle class parents it might not be much.
