To leave or to stay?

I’m not sure if this is the correct spot to post this so if not, please forgive me and let me know where I should post. I’m working in a company whose future is unknown in my country given certain government regulations and the fact that we lost a very valuable customer. I’m working in a company whose future is unknown in my country given certain government regulations and the fact that we lost a very valuable customer. Because of this, work has been scarce and I haven’t been that busy till they moved me to another department. I recently received a job offer for another established company where I will be working in the same department I originally was in. I accepted the offer but now my manager and other managers are trying to convince me to stay because 1. They consider me a very valuable resource and I’ve performed well in both departments I’ve worked in. 2. I’ve only been in this company for 8 months.

I really want to go back to my previous department but there’s not enough work to do there and worse, my company might even eventually close due to lack of business. The other department I am currently working in is based in another country so they’re confident it will not close. I don’t plan on relocating there either when I can do my job here.

Should I bite the bullet and leave or should I take my chances and hope the company gains clients and eventually put me back to my former department?
