Tldr: 6% raise from a promotion and great annual review after 8 years of loyalty…
I joined this company straight out of college as a junior analyst and after 1.5 years, transitioned to a more financial role. I was already making garbage pay and though the new position was technically a mid level role, there was no pay increase.
Fast forward 8 years and some change, the company has gone through many changes for the better and my pay went up over time incrementally around the 5% to 8% mark here and there but with the work experience, no where near the average for the area. I only decided to stay as when I was starting to look for a new role, the pandemic hit and I opted to get a MBA vs. new role to bet on myself.
Fast forward 3 years and I am on my last semester of the program and am a new father. My annual review was stellar and I had a hunch I was going to be promoted finally after all these years but so many false promises so I didn't think much of it. Well I just got my new compensation information and was also informed that I got a promotion! The downside? The company decides to lump my annual performance raise with my promotion raise so all together I got a 6% raise from what I was making last year……
I am livid and sad since I've put so much of me into this company and after this many years I get a shit raise after finally getting a promotion.
As soon as my MBA is officially done this year I plan on moving on but it's really disheartening. I really thought I'd get at least 10 to 15% from mid to senior level….
Not trying to get sympathy…just off my chest. It's been eating away at me all day.
