A story about overworking yourself

I wanted to make this post because I see a lot of men (and woman too but I feel like woman generally know how to balance work/life better, not always the case though of course) who just overwork themselves. So I thought I would share a story about a experience I had a few years ago. I had a manager he would work 60-100 hours a week, insane shifts, almost no time to himself, etc. Well one day he came into work and had a stroke on the job at 32 years old. Luckily he ended up surviving and the doctors told him the stroke was caused by him overworking himself, and the stress that comes with it.

I think it's important for a lot of people who are working too much to realize, that lifestyle is literally taking years off your life and will eventually cause health issues.

A lot of men I know are always talking about the “grind” but no amount of money is worth your life, and even if you feel like you are doing fine working these hours, trust me your health is being affected. Humans really aren't designed to be in a constant state of working and sleeping, time to yourself is much more important then you might realize and you legitimately need it to live a healthy lifestyle.

If it's fear of losing work, there are other jobs out there and I would start immediately looking if you are able too, while also getting your hours reduced. Being forced to work these hours is just unacceptable.

Anyways I hope everyone is doing alright. Just remember to look out for yourself. No job is worth your life.
