About to go on maternity leave, boss decided to ambush me with a performance improvement plan

I'm a first time mother and 37 weeks pregnant. I was blindsided today when I received notice from HR/my manager that I've been put on a performance improvement plan. I'm going to look for another job while I'm on leave, and in the mean time I've scheduled a couple consultations with some lawyers. Really don't appreciate this kind of stress right before baby gets here.

I posted this in r/babybumps and am really disgusted with how often this happens to women trying to support their families. I think I'll avoid any mention of baby/personal details while interviewing.
