Abusive practices in the workplace – help!

My spouse currently works at a local restaurant where they are a delivery driver. It’s a small business; the owner has a few locations that get decent traffic, but regardless he lives quite lavishly. The owner employs many, if not mostly undocumented immigrants to work at these establishments. He takes great advantage that these people have little to no other options for work, and exploits them at every turn. He very regularly cuts hours off their paychecks, so often that they all have to keep a very close eye on their clock-in and out times, lest they get cheated out of 6 hours of work when their paychecks come in. They are told to wait to clock in despite already being at work and already engaging in work tasks. They get clocked out by managers while still doing late-night deliveries. Most recently, the owner has established an additional “delivery fee”…

Most recently, the owner has established an additional “delivery fee” on take-out orders so that customers can pay this fee directly to him under the assumption that this goes to the delivery drivers. It does not. He takes a large chunk and leaves crumbs for the drivers, who now increasingly go without tips for this reason.

This drives me insane. I am extremely frustrated that not only my spouse, but people without many resources or help have to experience this exploitation. Thankfully, my spouse in currently in the process of leaving for another great job opportunity but my conscience won’t rest knowing people are still suffering these abusive practices.

I guess my question is, what can I really do? I don’t have evidence outside of what my spouse tells me, but I’m sure the other employees have their own pieces of evidence in some way or another.

Thanks in advance.
