I’m looking for some general advice. I got a promotion at work and it was lower than expected. I knew I was not getting paid the same as my peers. I was making about 5k-7k less than people promoted at the same time as me and with similar years of experience based off conversations with co workers. I used my employee HR privileges to create a report of people who were promoted for the same position at the same time as me and similar years of experience. The report showed that I was indeed being underpaid. I looked at historical trends over the past two years. I shared my findings with HR and my boss. Both were upset that I abused my privileges and the conversation of my salary negotiations stopped. They also said I violated company policy. I will not be terminated, but my reputation is taking a hit, and Im worried this might have been a career limiting move. Looking for advice on things and how you all would proceed in this situation.
