I started working at a new job and withing a few months was let go because the owner was a sexist prick. I politely stood up to him for commenting on the size of my lunch, “I could never eat that much, a woman shouldnt either”. And was let go a week later. That's neither here nor there, because yes I'm pissed but I'm trying to move on haha
The advice I'm looking for is that we signed a contract that my income would be taxed. He zelled me the two months income (it was a 1x month). I didn't think much of it at first but now because of that I was denied unemployment and just received my tax form that the income was filed as 1099. So he purposely screwed me.
Is there anything I can do? I'm still waiting on hearing my appeal for unemployment. I sent in my contract and payment info so they will see that he didn't adhere to the contract. But it's been a month and the lines are so busy I can't get anyone on the phone to discuss it further.
I can't afford to hire a labor lawyer but this is seriously some bullshit. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!
