Hello I just wanted to vent/get some feedback of what to do. My shift was from 2-6 pm (Picking up) and I had to go to tutor a student right away at 605PM. I work at a pool as a lifeguard and my supervisor was constantly criticizing me on deck and rearranging our positions during the last 5 minutes of my shift. Beforehand, she always singled me out and talked to me on deck. I always try to keep my head down and do my work, clean up and hose off deck and do my best to teach but she always finds something wrong with the way I guard/teach. Hello

I just wanted to vent/get some feedback of what to do.

The feedback she gives is passive-aggressive and when she interrupted my lessons by telling me to push students to swim the whole length (when I noticed one girl was gassing out and we started to do half lengths). She got up in front of my class, told me to make them swim full lengths (instead of my original plan to have them to smaller 1/2 lengths in a box formation to keep them swimming shorter, but more manageable distances). The girl ended up crying in frustration 1/2 way through the lesson. When it was my 15 min break she took up my time (where I was going to go warm up/prep for my next lesson) telling me why I needed to be a better teacher. It felt very condescending as the other supervisor took me aside and said I was doing a good job. The other parents watching as well complimented me on my teaching style.

We had someone vomit in the leisure pool, so I spent the last 15-20 minutes of my shift cleaning up and scooping out the vomit. After rotating back to the main pool, I noticed that my supervisor would always walk up to me and then say my back was to the pool. I listened to her and then continued to guard but she kept on hounding me and changed the positions without telling the rest of us on deck (another guard would show up). She would then walk over and tell the guard where to go

I didn't mind this at first as it was the nearer end of my shift but what really pissed me of was when my shift ended and she tried to lecture me and tell me my guarding was wrong (Back to the pool/hot tub). However, I tried to explain I was going diagonally in a curve mirroring the other guard so we would cover each other's zones but she continued to explain why I was wrong. When the opposite guard was dealing with a PR and I moved to cover his zone as well as mine, she immediately came out and corralled me back. So now I had to watch the pool, cover both zones, and listen to her fucking bullshit with 5 min left on my shift.

. She then dove into a long-winded lecture that I did not have time for as I was just about to step out of the control room to grab my stuff. When I assertively, but politely told her that I had to tutor, she got defensive. I ended up leaving at 6:05PM and was late for my tutoring session.

She's my regular supervisor on Tuesdays (today was pick-up/covering for a buddy) so I don't know how hard she'll ride me/mark me out for revenge.

Would I have grounds to file a grievance? Should I reach out to my union steward? There's other supervisors there as well who I know would have my back as they mentioned she was really frustrated today.

This isn't the first time she's intentionally singled me out. I'm a visible minority and I've noticed she doesnt micromanage as hard on other white guards.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
