Ain’t this some shit

My agency hired a 25 year old for a position slightly higher than mine and better paying. I’ve been at my job for two years. This 25 year old has a degree in a completely unrelated field to the work we do. I am expected to train and teach her how to do her job. I was not considered for the position because I do not have a college degree. When I sat down with my boss to tell her that the whole situation was a bit hard to swallow, she said to me “I know we don’t agree on the matter of degrees…” and then she went on to say, “my kids both have college degrees and they damn well better make more than someone without one” Like, they DAMN WELL BETTER??? Fuck right off. I’m still going to this job every day because I have a chronic condition…

Like, they DAMN WELL BETTER???

Fuck right off.

I’m still going to this job every day because I have a chronic condition which demands I have health insurance and I absolutely refuse to take the disability route.

A chronic mental health condition. Which my boss also knows about, and that I’ve been basically low key discriminated for. A mental health condition that materialized when I was a sophomore at an Ivy League school that prevented me from finishing.

The kicker—I work for a mental health clinic.

The irony astounds.
