I work at a doctor’s office as a receptionist. I have never worked in a medical setting but have some knowledge since I have family in the medical field. Occasionally, the doctors ask us to help them out with procedures they’re performing on patients, like minor in-office surgeries, cleaning up after those messy procedures, putting TENS machine patches on patients, and taking x-rays. The doctor had me draw a medication/liquid he was going to inject into the patient multiple times, and it scares me everytime because I have no training! I’m not a medical assistant!
It just feels wrong, and there are other numerous sketchy things about this job and practice that I don’t feel comfortable with, but I’m scared to report it, even anonymously, because we are a very small office, and I need this job.
Also, my coworkers and I never received any OSHA or HIPPA training, just went straight into doing front desk tasks (learning on the job vs. actual training) so the manager could go back to her cushy desk and not have to help us out with patients.
