I work as a data analyst and database manager for a midsized non profit. The salary is above average for the non profit world. PTO is good, 6 weeks or so, but there are designated windows.
I have decided to leave mostly because I resent some of the work culture. For 13 years everything has felt chaotic and poorly planned. The executive leadership (with whom I work most closely) regularly has some emergency that requires putting projects aside to do some ridiculous task with no notice. There's a pride in working 60 hour weeks (though I do not and am not forced to). They add meetinga to my calendar without even notification of the meeting, let alone input for scheduling a preferred time.
I also get no real supervision (blessings and curses I guess), and I don't have much respect for my bosses. Still, I had a job with enough social capital to do what I want so long as I endure chaos 5-6 times per year. Anyone in the community have any thoughts? Especially data people in non-profits.
