I got hired on as a front end supervisor to a popular retail chain (won't say the name but ill say its undergoing a merger). I was officially hired on in September and my official start date was Oct 1st.
During the interview, the hiring manager said that benefits will come into effect after 90 days of working 32+ hours a week. So, I did. I worked anywhere between 38-44 hours a week, but when my benefits hadnt come in by January I was confused.
I took it up with the big manager and he said it was because I was hired on as “part-time” (despite working the hours). He moved me to full time and I still worked the hours, but I was told I would have to wait a 30 day timer and then I'd receive a packet to enroll me in benefits.
Fast forward to the start of March and my 30 day timer ended, but I had received no packet. I asked management again and he directed me to HR where they told me I had missed the deadline. The deadline was the end of February, and my timer ended on the 26th. Not really that much time.
Anyways, fast forward to now. I have talked with HR heads whom tell me they can't reverse the decision and that id be able to enroll during open enrollment in November. Likewise, management is very much picking favorites as im usually only given things to do and told what things happened during my shifts that were bad. I haven't gotten a day off since Christmas (my only two days off are going attend college) and I'm feeling a lil bummed about it.
My question to you good people. Am I justified to quit this position? While my paychecks help pay my tuition, is it truly worth given these circumstances?
