Honestly dont know if I am being over/underutilised.
Senior production manager in a construction manufacturing company been there for 9 years now. Between 80 – 100 employees at any given time depending on production load. I managed ALL of them up until Jan when I got a second manager to help. We divided the facility in half but I still do the more senior tasks myself. Managing includes quality control, time keeping, disciplinary issues and HR, health and safety, transporting staff, maintenance of all types of machinery as well as manual labout involved in the priduction process. We are doing very well in terms of workload IE extremely busy.
We run 24 hours in our bread and butter departments which means I am on call all the time, we frequently work 6 sometimes 7 days a week and whatever annual leave I sacrifice in order to keep things going is never allowed to be taken or paid out, always get told we are to busy. Super disheartening watching your boss go on several fishing trips and family trips only to be told you cannot take any time off. This in my view can and has led to product quality issues in the past but again maybe I need to find better ways to do things or maybe I am overburdened. Truly dont know.
