Americans are being more conservative. It is very alarming for labor rights.

From Gallup: More Americans this year (38%) say they are very conservative or conservative on social issues than said so in 2022 (33%) and 2021 (30%). Anyone over the years who hasn't bury their heads in the sand are able to see that the trend that America has moved more right, at least socially. This is anecdotal, but places like YouTube used to do very well with progressive contents, such as (the list is controversial but you get the idea) Rising with The Hill, Secular Talk, TYT, Joe Rogan, Jimmy Dore, Glenn Greenwald, and Kim Iversen (before the last four pivots to cater right-wing audiences). Now, as I just mentioned many personalities pivots to the what I would call the “new right).” While they are not Christian fundamentalists, they are still parroting or promoting many right-wing talking points, such as anti-vaccination and anti-woke (such as Megyn Kelly on Bud Light) while at times repeating populist talking points such as corruption of government and how the system is rigged against the regular people.

Regardless, the US is still a two-party system where both sides are pretty much screwing the workers over, whether it was Biden railroaded railroad workers or Trump butchering workers' rights. However, the shift that broke many Americans' brains over the years of obsession of social issues have turned Americans to become right wingers. You are against people who are transgender in sports? You are against forced vaccination? You are against society's obsession of topics related to social justice (or so-called anti-wokeness)? Well, let's become conservatives without knowing what it truly means.

The true meaning of being a conservative

The true meaning of being a conservative means that you do not support worker's rights. It means that you support Reagan's union busting of air traffic controllers, against increasing the minimum wage, and even supporting employing children. Being a conservative means that you favor the rich paying less taxes than the average citizen “because they are more productive,” cutting higher ed at one of the states with the worse educational outcomes, and supporting budget plans that bankrupt state governments like Louisiana and Kansas which ruins essential state-run government services like human services and health department. It means you do not support feeding hungry children in public schools, paid family and medical leave, and supporting cuts to department of health in one of the states with the worst health outcomes. I can go on with the list, but this is just some of the examples.

As I said, I am not saying democrats are awesome, such as Biden railroaded railroad workers and Obama passed RomneyCare instead of Universal Healthcare. What I am trying to say is that be careful of what you wish for. You don't want trans people in sports? You will probably lose your right to strike. You don't want gay people to get married? You won't get free school lunches for all then. African Americans know this even as they are traditionally the racial group that is the least supportive of same-sex marriage. At least in their mind, they know they are better off voting where their dollars go instead of where their hearts go. Please, don't let the morale outrage of some rather niche social issues that doesn't affect your daily lives make you vote away your labor rights.
