An example of why unions are important

Not going into too many details here as I currently work at this company. Company carried out a “wage review” and after a year concluded 4% was the best offer. They also tried to sneak through a 75% reduction in car allowance payments (car travel is essential for the role) and removal of hybrid working to “fund” this, resulting in a considerable number of employees actually losing money from it. Union held a ballot and it was rejected by around 80% of staff. Forced the company to remove the parts they tried to sneak through. Don’t let anyone tell you unions aren’t worth the money.
