At the risk of sounding like a scummy pyramid schemer, why don't we all try to do something to improve things? There's 2.4 million followers of this sub, granted it's probably across the globe.
But still. Something minimal like a monthly pledge of $1.00 could be powerful. We could create a non profit home-building organization. Create a ton of high paying jobs, build affordable homes, and not be scummy executives skimming off the top.
That's just a random idea, I have literally 0 experience in home building. But maybe there's a lurker here who is?
What do you people think? I don't mind working towards something good, but the exploitation in this world is sickening. I think something like this approaches 2 problems at once. We could offer more high paying jobs (no executives or middle managers to fatten up), and since we'd collectively be a non profit we could focus on building affordable homes. The proceeds from sales + monthly donations would (ideally) cover the costs of construction, from supplies to labor.
Just trying to offer a beacon of hope, please have mercy on me, oh lurkers of Antiwork.
