Any luck in switching jobs and getting a raise but STAYING in the same crappy role?

Assuming that you didn't get fired from your current job and you left in good standing, is it similar to most consumer products where, if you shop around for the best deal, you can expect to find something for a better price? A better deal meaning a job with similar requirements but better pay? I feel like I always hear people on work subreddits talking about how your biggest pay raise happens when you change jobs. From what I've been seeing, there are a lot of job postings with similar requirements for much more pay and I'm just not sure. I guess I'll just have to apply and interview and hope for the best but I'm curious if any of y'all have found success in switching jobs (staying in the call center roll) but then getting a decent pay bump. Thanks.
