I’m getting out of my slump and trying to update my resume this weekend and I’m wondering: if being asked about why I’m leaving my current job, how should I answer it?
Some background
My job used to be not bad… pay wasn’t very good, but regular 9-5. (By not very good, I meant average rent in my city is 60% of my paycheck. I was doing part time school at the time I was employed, so a steady 9-5 was okay.)
However, my former manager (really good manager) retired a few months ago and a peer was promoted. She has been power tripping and the entire team is not happy with all the random decisions she makes and all the micromanagement she does. I don’t understand how a person can micromanage and refuse to take personal responsibility at the same time, but she manages to do it.
Most of us are looking for job elsewhere now.
I was in a depression slump for a while (lost a lot of money from bad investments, so my job quit cushion was gone) and I’m ready to get out of it now and put my life in order. Updating my resume now.
If I get any interview who will ask me why I’m quitting my job, how should I answer to not sound negative?
