I don't know if its me, if I'm saying the wrong things or just look ugly! I've had two dozen interviews in the past two months- I always ace the pre-screen call, the assessment tests, Zoom calls and/or video interviews. But when doing on-site interviews (as a prelude to an offer)- I 100% get ghosted or turned down.
I try to be friendly and outgoing at on-site interviews…I take an interest in the company and ask questions such as “What are the long term goals?” “What areas, if any, do you see a need for improvement or efficiency?” I smile, make eye contact, shake hands and try to be as engaging as possible. I simply don't understand why I can be at the top of their list then somehow be unhireable once they meet me in the flesh.
And before you ask- yes I clean up as if I'm going on a date- Office casual clothes, nice polished shoes, hair on point, beard oiled up, teeth sparkly and breath as fresh as morning dew.
