So I work for a TMS company (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) it's a treatment for depression that involves placing a coil on specific portions of the skull and stimulating areas of the brain responsible for mood. As of late the GM has been going around to a ton of locations at the orders of the admin to inspect our work. It's been very annoying for us techs because they'll come into treatments with patients that have social anxiety or really don't like more than just 1 person in the room. We've also had a change in protocols to get people to a certain level of amplitude (level of power/energy beamed into the patient's brain) when treating them. It's been very annoying because some patients just don't tolerate higher treatment levels. It takes them a minute to get there. But now we're expected to get them to higher levels even if the patient is highly uncomfortable. The GM talked to my manager about the fact that I wasn't at the proper treatment level for the patient. But this patient is an old person who is sensitive to the treatment. I already told my manager that they are sensitive and that I can't put them higher without the patient wincing and asking for less power. My manager seems to understand but the general manager doesn't.
So am I just supposed to cause my patients pain? My patients are going to hate me. I already have great metrics. My patients on average have about a 75% chance of remission and even higher chances of response at 80-83%.
The GM is coming tomorrow to inspect my placements and setups and I just feel awful that I'm going to have to ramp up the power for these patients at a higher rate than before because it's going to hurt them. And I can't exactly just tell them why.
Anyone else deal with similar problems like this? I just absolutely hate admin and the higher level managers. They just feel like an invading force criticizing your level of care even if you are doing well and your patients trust you. These idiots aren't the ones with the patients day in and day out. I am.
