I don't understand it. I work as a courtesy clerk at a large chain grocery store. We're understaffed to hell and when I mentioned that it gets too busy for just one courtesy clerk sometimes, I got told by management they couldn't afford to hire another person. I run around the parking lot doing carts, I keep all the restrooms and store floor clean on top of helping customers with what they need entirely by myself.
There's about maybe 1-2 people at most per department at a time but for some reason we'll have like 4 managers on staff in the store it makes really little sense to me
