I get 6 weeks (240 hours) of PTO a year to use for sick and vacation time.
Every year I take the week of my birthday off and this year I took the week of Thanksgiving off and will be taking the last week of the year between Christmas and New Years off as well. I took random days here and there throughout the year. When the end of the year comes I will have 59 hours of unused PTO.
I do enjoy my time off but I always have this nagging worry that I will return to nothing. That they will find they do not need me and I will no longer be employed. I have little to no reason to think this way as my employer does encourage us to take time off and I know how essential I am but I cannot shake the feeling. I know it is the reason I will have over a week of PTO leftover.
