So I just got let go from my job due to “company downsizing” and their piss poor planning by upper management. In my exit folder there's a form offering severance of 3 weeks of pay. It seems like a good offer, but I'm sure they're fucking me over somehow.
Does anyone know how a offer of severance affects potential unemployment payments? Do I have to accept the severance, and if I don't, does it affect my unemployment? I am sure the severance is some way to minimize unemployment payments, and don't want to screw myself on this, but have never dealt with severance when it came to being let go.
