Apparently one day off a month for school is “excessive”

I work as an IT Sysadmin at a small Managed Service Provider. I do this full time (often ~50 hr a week), salaried, and on-call for two weeks every 2 months or so. I also am going to school part time (9hrs) to finish a degree. Last semester I barely scraped by because of work. This semester, I decided I'd take one day a month off (a Wedneday in the middle of the month, so roughly 4 weeks apart) to dedicate to school. Pretty reasonable, right? Not according to our HR person/wife of the owner. She messaged me saying we would need to “discuss” it and to be conscious of our Unlimited PTO policy about taking “excessive” time off. It's one day a month for the next five months. 5 days total. Fuck me. Add this to the list of reasons why I'm looking for a new job.
