Applied for an entry-level position today. Got shot down. Feedback they gave was that I don’t have enough recent experience.

I'm exploring a career change. I've always worked in education, but it's kind of a dead-end income wise. Thought I'd like to start over working in the industry. So I applied to a job that only requires a high school diploma even though I have a bachelors in order to gain experience. Shot me down because my experience is not recent. WTF
