Every single jobs board is riddled with spam. Every single jobs board is plastered with the same job over and over again. Every single jobs board has pop-up windows that look like they’re trying to take me to another website altogether (like it’s Kayak or Orbitz or something). Every single jobs board sends you to an employers website, where you’re asked to upload your resume (after uploading it to the jobs board) and then asked to type in all the information from your resume again.
I just spent two and a half hours applying for a job at some company I have never heard of through a VERY WELL KNOWN jobs board, to get to the end of the application process and be prompted to upload a 3-5 minute video about how awesome I think it would be to work for fabulous them. And it would not let me continue without uploading something. So I uploaded another PDF of the test they made me take to prove I can use a spreadsheet because by that point I was so angry that the “30 minute” advertisement at the top of the application was so horribly wrong that I could not give them anything else. But I spent that long on it so you better believe I was going to submit it. Wonder if they’ll call……
