Are employers legally able to (if they choose to) give profit sharing bonuses, or just a bonus in general, to an employee who recently had a severe workplace injury and is on CNESST?

I understand it's the companies choice, I'm just genuinely curious how that works seeing as they technically are an employee while on CNESST and it was just over a month ago that the accident happened. Or is that not possible due to the fact that they are no longer on that companies payroll? Thanks in advance for the info
