Hi everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well.
Recently I've been observing an increasing change in my work ideology, in the sense that “Workers Unions” have come to my attention. I have heard of them before but I never minded them much until i saw a unionization happening online.
The idea that the boss held all the power and made all the decisions is so naturally engraved in every workplace (especially where i live), i thought any other method was dumb or opressive.
Afterall they are the bosses right?
At first when i saw the union happen I looked at it with bad eyes but then I asked myself “wtf is a workers union anyway?”.
I researched it in multiple websites and I realized that they seem somewhat reasonable to say the least.
One of them even used the expression “Workers Unions democratize the workplace” which is very flashy but not exactly untrue from what ive grasped.
Why dont workers unite more often for better conditions? Is there a big disadvantage to it that I am missing? a big flop that just makes the whole idea bad?
Help me understand what worker unions truly are and why they arent popular.
Thank you!
