My boyfriend works in the oil and gas industry. He's full-time with a company. He busts his ass everyday for them and comes home drained both physically and mentally.
He's never gone on vacation in his life and I planned a week in Jamaica for him. He's just so deserving of this.
His supervisor and manager (not sure of their official titles) came to him asking him to change his dates because “they're slammed with work and need him.” We'd have to go a month later. But, he's currently been under a lot of stress with this. He's not happy with the person it's turning into.
He feels he can't leave because they'll find ways to punish him because that's just the industry. Is this true? Does anyone else here work oil and gas and can they explain this to me?
I'm so mad that they are crushing him in every way possible.
