First time posting on this sub. But I frequently enjoy reading the posts here. Now here’s my personal antiwork story that happened just this morning 😀
Essentially, I showed up for a job interview that I knew I was under qualified for, but I expressed over the phone that I am very committed to learning the ropes. We schedule an in person interview. Interview day, I show up 10 minutes early. She walks out to the waiting area, acknowledges that I need to wear a mask, but she doesn’t even greet me! Also, a mask? Post COVID? Fuck off.
She had asked me over the phone to bring a physical copy of my resume. I complied. But when I’m there, she has me fill out an application that literally answers all of her questions if she would only take a second to read my resume! I ask one of the front desk people if it’s entirely necessary for me to fill it out. They say yes, I provide a pleasant smile, and continue the redundant process.
THEN, she puts me to the test. Mind you, she STILL hasn’t greeted me. “Organize these files. Type this letter up. Then come with me.” I do all of it. When she decided to finally sit down to talk, I had to initiate a greeting! She quizzes me some more. I answer effectively. Then she specifies that she’s really looking for someone with x,y,z experience.
SHE HAD MY RESUME BEFORE I CAME IN. SHE HAD IT WHEN SHE DECIDED TO CALL ME BY THE PHONE. WHY would she call me in for an in person goddamn exam and backwards ass questionnaire (one of the questions was literally “how many children do you have?” The fuck???)
I told her, “I wish you had specified your expectations before having me come in-person. You had my resume, you saw my qualifications, I don’t understand why I was summoned. Do you require your employees for x,y,z position to complete any certifications?” She goes “well I’m considering maybe have you do x, and hire someone else for yz. No certifications required, just experience”.
SHE SAW MY EXPERIENCE IN MY RESUME. GOD DAMN WHORE. Why the lack of transparency. HOW DO WE GET EXPERIENCE IF WE NEVER GET THE JOB.
I raise my hand to shake hers while I said “thank you for your time” and she LITERALLY shook her head “no” with a grimace on her face, and hesitantly offered her elbow.
HESITANTLY.
I pray to GOD she reaches out to give me x position. I’m going to decline the shit out of any offer she may provide.
Thanks to those that read my vent post. Now I ask for advice. Any tips on not wanting to commit die or crimes after a shit interview/loads of applications but no results? How do I handle interviewers like this next time?
Any other feedback is also appreciated. Thanks in advance!
