Asking me to work through lunch…

I’m salaried and already work over 40 hours a week. They are constantly saying that we should only be working 40 hours a week, but then completely contradict it with their actions and sometimes even their words. I’m going to be out of office, which I rarely am, Monday through Wednesday of next week(one of the days being July 4th a federal holiday) and my boss asked if I could skip lunch on Friday to possibly be able to get more working time in since I’ll be OOO til Thursday. No task in particular already lined up that needs to be done, but just planning ahead to work through my lunch I guess? It’s just so annoying to work for a place that problem solves by asking their employees to skip lunches and work extra hours. Why can’t my boss or other leaders step up to interview people? To be…

To be clear I’m in very good standing, everything I’m doing is completely on or ahead, and the urgency is not coming from my efforts.

Basically I’m just here to commiserate.
