So, I've been working at this IT company for a while now, and my boss was the worst. He was always impossible to talk to, he never gave us clear instructions, he took credit for our hard work, and he loved to criticize us.
I tried telling HR about him, but they just brushed it off and told me to deal with it. I even tried to give him a performance review to show him how bad he was doing, but he just laughed and kept being a terrible boss.
I had been trying to tell him about a problem with one of our projects, but he just wouldn't listen. As a result, the project went over schedule and cost the company lots of money. I couldn't take him anymore. I started gathering evidence of all the times he messed up, and took it to the higher-ups. They were shocked when they saw what a terrible boss he was and started an investigation right away. And guess what? He got fired!
Moral of the story: If you have a boss who's making your life miserable, don't be afraid to go to the people in charge. If your boss isn't listening to your suggestions, or is telling you to do stupid shit, make sure it's all documented. So you can compile it all and escalate it some day. It might not be easy, but fighting for a better work environment is worth it. Don't let a bad boss bring you down – stand up for yourself and your coworkers.
