At least 15 people are ready to quit on June 11th at my job

For context I work at a Walmart in a small town. 60% of the people that work there are part-time highschoolers. We want short shifts, between 15-20 hours you get the gist. Lately I've been receiving 25+ hours, and since I'm highschool and extracurriculars, it's too much. I basically work 4-10 Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 3-10 every Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes I get a 3-9 instead. Anyways I'm getting to many hours so I ask them to stick to my availability which I listed when I was employed, to which I was told “we just really need people to close right now.” So I call in. I'm an honors student at my highschool, I take my academics seriously, I'm an athlete too. I'm a busy person. Anyways, I'm not the only person putting up with this, all of the other workers (who are children for the most part) are in…

Lately I've been receiving 25+ hours, and since I'm highschool and extracurriculars, it's too much.

I basically work 4-10 Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 3-10 every Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes I get a 3-9 instead.

Anyways I'm getting to many hours so I ask them to stick to my availability which I listed when I was employed, to which I was told “we just really need people to close right now.”

So I call in. I'm an honors student at my highschool, I take my academics seriously, I'm an athlete too. I'm a busy person.

Anyways, I'm not the only person putting up with this, all of the other workers (who are children for the most part) are in the same boat. We work six hours running the store 5 nights a week and management treats us like trash. They don't care about our school or our events. Recently my co workers aunt died unexpectedly and she had to travel 9 hours to attend a service and the wrote her up for calling in.

I have a condition that affects my metabolism and immune system, AKA, I'm sick a lot. Usually I'm good but sometimes at work I need 20 minutes to use the bathroom. They know and are aware I've provided proof of my diagnosis to them and I still get reprimanded for it.

They rob us of our breaks and if we talk to our Co workers too much they make a meeting to which they call us out and ask what we were talking about.

We've had enough, and on June 11th there's a plan for people (pretty much the entire front end) to walk out mid shift.

I have yet to decide if I'm going with them. I'm moving at the end of July and need to work but finding a job for a month is a waste of time.

Anyway, I'll update if anything happens, if anyone cares.

People will shit on my generation repeatedly, but I'm pretty proud of us.
