Disclaimer: I'm in HR. This is not how I hire, but it is what I'm dealing with, trying to get hired. I wish I could find a company that's not like this, so I don't have to go in and change the culture, but the kids need shoes and mama needs a job, ya know? OK – I have degrees. In my field. Which means I have spent several months learning, researching, and writing about the different topics in my field. Why do I ALSO need to have a certification just to get past the recruiting software? For example, I spent an entire semester learning about change management theory and wrote a 40-page paper on it. Then I spent an entire semester learning change management practice and completed a huge project on it. I have spent hundreds of hours learning change management. But, in order to get a job…

Does anyone know if this is illegal? Can you use an employee’s picture to promote anything connected to the company?
I'm Tired of working crazy schedules ranging from 6:30 to 22pm I'm Tired of working with no Weekends I'm Tired of working with 6 days a week I'm Tired of receiving the bare minimum as a salary I'm Tired of having to multi tasking the shelves, dealing with customers I'm Tired of having to stay up for 8-9 hours I'm tired of it, can't plan anything for my life, feels like i need to be 24/7 available, since everyday is a different work schedule. No time to enjoy life. On sundays is a dread for the next monday that i can't even enjoy my only day in peace. No pay, Overworked, Understaffed. And company still posts about record profits even with covid. I live in germany and im tired of the retail system here. Retail is a dead end.
Need a way out

This place claimed they can teach anyone, which is fine! Until you realize it actually means you don’t mean shit there. Where they went wrong… This is a small family run business. A husband and wife duo started this biz on Etsy. Making a few custom wood tables and chair sets. 3 years later they blew up online and started to hire workers as 1099 contractors. On paper- you’re a contractor, free to set your own hours, take the breaks you want, show up and work early or late, stay as much or as long as you want in this shop on their property (which isn’t zoned for a commercial business) with overtime AFTER 90 hours worked. Strike 1.…
so, i lost my first job yesterday and it was one i was very passionate about and loved. i had missed some work and not let them know in a timely manner. this happened about two times due to me being sick and due to a medical emergency in my family, which they knew about. ive apparently been on probation since december, when i had my first evaluation. my boss had not said a word about that to me until right before they fired me. i was also given no notice aside from “this will be your last day, you cant come back. get out.” (obviously stated more politely than that but you get the gist.) im just incredibly distraught. i completely take responsibility for the mistakes i made, and i really dont want to come off as whining over something that was my fault. i just dont understand why…
I found one!!
promising academic career but I just… don't like working. or having a “career”. I hate it. part-time editing / proofreading covers the bills but I can work from home and is super low stress. can anyone relate?
