I am so tired of working 55-80 hour weeks with only one day off and getting disrespected. I sat through work with a panic attack, I have taken technicians only supplying me with half of the information I need and berating me for what they don't tell me, my manager is being a big douche. To preface, too, I had taken initiative to tell my manager that I was extended an offer elsewhere and had intentions of taking it. I would like to give my two weeks and have a good rapport with the company. Then our dynamic in the office changed. We built a really nice and well rounded friendship in my time being there for it to end abruptly. So I work at a warehouse as a temp, been here for about 5 months. First day I was already asked to come in earlier than the start time on my contract. But I knew that they were struggling here with high turnover, many of the employees wouldn’t get vaccinated and were let go. But after a whole month of coming in early and staying late being deemed “mandatory”, they decided to make Saturdays also mandatory. I also witnessed a lot of naming and shaming of people who make small mistakes, and people just generally being toxic. This was when I called my Temp Agency to ask them if I was required to work these extra hours, they said no, so I made is clear I work 40 hours a week and no more. Mid last year our company said that sales were so good/we were having a record year so far (despite the pandemic) that they were giving an additional week's pay to all employees. Awesome! A few months later they stated they were giving an additional week's pay to anyone who had been vaccinated. Count me in! Fast forward to 2 weeks ago when annual bonuses are given – we usually know the set amount ahead of time. Lets say I was supposed to receive $3k. I only ended up getting $1500. When I asked my boss why the discrepancy they said 'oh remember the two payouts from last year? Those count toward the total amount.' After 15 years you would think they would be up front with you. While grateful for the extra money, it was not as advertised.

Just like the title says, fuck work. Couldn’t hold myself together while on my 9th day out of 11 day work “week”. My great grandpa died on the 13th and they basically told me to “figure it out yourself” when I tried to take off to visit him before he passed. Called in today and told them consider this my bereavement since I didn’t get one. Again, fuck work.

I work for a large financial institution that is currently leading the way in eliminating overdraft fees. We have had a very successful couple of years despite the pandemic. I had surgery in October and returned to work early because I wasn’t being compensated, and could not afford to stay out of work. Surgery was pretty intense and most of the invasive tumor was removed. The surgical wound caused me to finish the year inconsistent as I typed slower, didn’t have mobility in my right hand, was slower in general because of the prescribed pain medicine. There wasn’t enough tissue to stitch my thumb closed after surgery, so it had to be left open. It was hard on my mental health to go through that, my hand was essentially disfigured. They just want to avoid giving you the holiday pay you're entitled to, but still get your hours by moving your shift around. I've had it happen for years before but I'm not letting it happen again. If they want the full work week on a holiday week they're paying for it, not screwing me around.

Well, I was in an unpopular opinion commenting and suddenly start getting downvoted. Well, my opinion is unpopular so sure. I get it. But then, someone points out that I’m subscribed to r/anti work and starts saying that people on this sub are all unemployed softies. People who don’t want to work. It’s quite disappointing that this is the attitude they have towards us. I don’t understand. I’m literally just here because I don’t want to be paid minimum wage, not because I’m unemployed. It doesn’t even matter if you are. I’ve always worked at least a part time or something until I could find a full time. So calling me lazy and I don’t know what else is unfair.
