Posting on behalf of my friend. He has always worked in sales and has been with his current company for about 6 months. They recruited him with the promise of more money, less work etc. On paper it all lined up. In practice it did not. His boss was rude and indifferent to my friends performance. My friend was the number 1 closer every month he was there, yet his boss refused to give him better accounts. This limited his potential income so he casually began looking for a new job. He found one that was a step up in role and pay. He accepted and was going to tell his new company this week, leave on a good note, not say anything bad about his time there.
Well last week his boss called him and began tearing into him about how his paperwork on 1 deal was missing 1 thing and how a sloppy attitude like that is why he hasn't been successful. My friend responded that he had asked his mentor on how to do the paperwork and was never taught. Then his boss said that if he was going to make excuses then it is probably best if they part ways. My friend agreed that that was the best course of action.
He has since received calls from HR, the GM, and has meeting with the owner this week to discuss him staying
