Hi, I am a full-time bartender at a high in country club. Recently I’ve been taking high-volume gigs on the side to make extra money. This is usually not a problem but recently I requested off for an event I was hired onto over a month in advanced. My time off request was denied, I was told I need to be a team player and it’s a bad look for me to be seeking more money elsewhere. I’ve never experienced anything like this and was honestly flabbergasted. I don’t really view myself as part of a team. I’ve always viewed work as a means to an end, money.
