In this community, many write that the older generation has no idea how much time it takes to save up for housing and how much this housing costs. And so you must show them. So that there would be no talk about – “You work too little! And in the 70s I was able to save up for a starter house in a year! What is your problem? I don't get it! Just work!”
This is one side of the coin.
But there is also a second one – the older generation, who do not know the prices in the real estate market, are subject to attacks by scammers.
Recently I had a phone conversation with my mother (she is already about 70 years old). She told me about an “amazing” offer to change her apartment to another, in a more “attractive” location. When I clarified the details, I became angry – some “realtor” tried to convince my mother that her apartment was worth 1 million rubles (I quote – “And only if there is a generous buyer!”), Although in fact In fact, such housing in this location costs 4-5 million rubles. I warned her not to communicate with these scammers anymore. And when they tried to continue communication, they called me and wrote a statement to the police.
Maybe the moral of this post will be dehumanizing and TOO pragmatic, but in the current situation (not only in Russia, but also in America), the only way to be guaranteed to own a house is to inherit it. Old people are the target of scammers, try to keep that in mind.
P.S. Indeed, in the 60s and 70s, many people could save up for a house in a year and no longer care about the price of their property. But in the countries of the former USSR, the situation is even worse – most people received apartments for free from the state and, in principle, do not monitor their cost and do not have tools for an adequate price assessment.
