My workplace is a new establishment operating 2 months ago. I joined last month. Everything was going well until the pre-opening phase. It's chaotic, everything is messy, everyone is in a hurry to open this place to the public. The air is tense.
There's a lot of tasks to do and it'll end up costing us time. And as per my general manager, he told us this phase is going to be tough and most of us will be doing overtime and since the establishment isn't fully operational yet, we won't be paid. We still received our basic pay but we have so many hours wasted!
I am tired both physically and mentally. It's crazy to think I'll be spending the last few months of 2022 doing free overtime. “But you can gain experience”. I don't care about the experience, I work for the money. I can't resign yet as it'll look bad on my resume. I plan to hang on for a bit longer and hope things will improve.
