Antiwork

Been here for years, job just threw me under the bus overnight

I've been working at this same manufacturing plant for years. I've known the boss for 7 years and I always thought we had a mutual respect or friendship. Stupid. Through the pandemic a bunch of people quit. This lead to us being short staffed the last 2 years. Managerial power over production moved to the senior employees in the office. Coworkers in the office and manufacturing plant became increasingly selfish, antagonistic with each other, and started squabbling. Typical trend for the last year: Work is held up pre-press, internal personal fights abound, job is late and the blame falls on warehouse. Nepotism runs this place. My supervisors are office people who don't know how to run the machinery they supervise because almost all original manufacturing crew quit. Theatrics and blame over any tangible solution because they are not qualified.. and the last dozen? Maybe more? People we've hired for production…

My supervisors are office people who don't know how to run the machinery they supervise because almost all original manufacturing crew quit. Theatrics and blame over any tangible solution because they are not qualified.. and the last dozen? Maybe more? People we've hired for production quit. Not 1 new employee will stay more than a couple months in 2 years. Anyways they've now decided I am going to be responsible for the work of what used to be 3 people plus my own original job I was hired + am paid to do. My boss and coworkers saying “Everyone is suffering we all have to compromise” means nothing to me. “I believe it'll get better because it has to” got stale 2 years ago. It's a race for management to avoid responsibility. I'm considering killing myself because I have no degree, no experience outside warehouse labor and no savings. This was meant to be a career-I will be homeless if I quit. I understand my position in culture and society can not improve and the only reasonable thing to do is give up.
