Been in the Workforce for about a decade now. I'm only 23. Worked at 1 job for 6 years & 2 various other jobs for 2.
Anytime I put in a vacation request for a full 2 weeks, it has always been denied. Won't let me have more than 4 days off at any given time, whereas I've seen several co-workers in the past go on a plane trip for over a week to a different province/country. I have a better work ethic than most older & younger adults. I show up for my scheduled shifts & pickup extras often. I can't remember the last time I've been anywhere, During Highschool I think before I got my 1st job. I would like to go on a motorcycle roadtrip with a friend & use the full 2 weeks I'm suppost to be entitled too.
I used to work in Hospitality but left due to how mistreated I was & now I work in Long-Term Care, Government Union job. best job I've had thus far. I've only been there for 2 months & plan to honor the 1 year rule before requesting vacation time. Would like to work here long-term, But I'm worried, you know? I care more about my 2 weeks vacation than my regular time off. Quitting over denied vaaction time seems so unrealistic to me, but I'm tired of it being denied repeatedly. I can't go anywhere by motorcycle in 4 days & enjoy that as much! Can't go anywhere during the winter either.
