Being fired without being told you’re fired?

So, I work for an investor of sorts. He invests and partners with various people to build houses, storage units, and commercial buildings like dollar generals and such. He has a hand in a little bit of everything locally. I do just about everything. I do electrical (what my actual trade is), plumbing, flooring, roofing, landscape. You name it. Me and two other guys basically take an empty lot, and go from dirt work to completed building. We do everything. Last week I had a family emergency and had to leave work early. I sent him a message from my truck on the way home and he tells me that it's fine, he hopes everything works out and not to worry about it. Went to work yesterday, worked, normal day. I get a text from him later that evening saying that he doesn't really have any work coming up next…

Last week I had a family emergency and had to leave work early. I sent him a message from my truck on the way home and he tells me that it's fine, he hopes everything works out and not to worry about it. Went to work yesterday, worked, normal day. I get a text from him later that evening saying that he doesn't really have any work coming up next week. So he'll just call and let me know when he has something. Kind of bizarre and out of nowhere. So, here's the issue with that:

1.) I'm the only one being told we're not working for a week. Everyone else is working.
2.) I know we have work. We're in the middle of two major projects, plus we've got houses to flip. There's /plenty/ of work.
2b.) In fact, I've been managing the current job, because his actual manager/lead man couldn't handle the stress. I've done all the project management on this and the last project. I was about to have a conversation with my boss about it to try to get compensated with my pay. Having managed this job from the first week, I not only know there's work, I know every detail about the work that's there, from material lists to labor distribution.

I feel like I'm being fired, or punished for leaving work early, but I have absolutely no clue why. I get along with everyone, I'm on time, I manage my jobs well.

Anyone else ever experienced this? Have am opinion? Kind of at a loss here.
