Being overworked, need advice

Im currently a part time worker in a shop in scotland. Im currently contracted to 24 hours a week which i usually do in three 8 hour shifts. Over the last few months we’ve had multiple members of staff leave including the store manager and people off sick with long term illness, this has left us extremely understaffed for months with no attempt to replace those who have left. As a result im now working 5 or 6 days per week (I wasn’t asked if I could do extra shifts, i was just scheduled them with no warning or anything) which has made me depressed and lose any form of social life I previously had. I tried talking to my assistant manager who’s currently in charge about going back down to only 24 hours a week but she said i can’t because we’re short-staffed. I know since I’m contracted to…

I know since I’m contracted to 24 hours a week im well within my rights to only work those hours but if I force my assistant manager to only schedule me my contracted hours then I would be making my coworkers have to work even more hours or the shop would need to close due to a lack of staff meaning they wouldn’t be able to get paid. I’m really unsure what to do in this situation, any advice would be appreciated
