I've been looking to change companies for two months now (because my current one told me that I wasn't qualified for the promotion I asked for, but then asked me to do the work of that job anyway), and over those weeks I've come across many job listings that have been a 70-80% match for my skills, some of which have resulted in interviews that I turned down for various reasons.
Very discouraging.
Yesterday I come across a listing for my role in my area that looked like someone had found my resume on a job board and written the job req using the exact wording of my documents, down to the order I had items listed. This listing also has a salary range posted (miraculous!!!) so of course I apply, thinking I'll easily get a first round phone screening so I can learn more about it.
In less than a day I get a canned email saying that after reviewing my resume, they are looking for someone who is a “better match” for the role. Like???
How can there be a better match? You stole MY job description. They even stole my exact level of experience, listing requirement for 7 years. What a weirdly specific number of years required.
Whole situation is incredibly sus. Anyone ever experienced this?
