Beware of Gigsmart and Open World Events AKA Brickfest. They lie to and abuse workers, and refuse to pay them after working shifts

Open World Events have 300,000 guests per year according to their website. They are currently lying and saying I no-showed a shift that I worked so they don’t have to pay me. Not only did I work it, but the staff tried to intimidate us out of our breaks, they slapped our hands when we tried to grab bottles of water, forced us to pay $15 for parking, and didn’t provide lunch, just $20 tacos from a taco truck which they were profiting on. They use an app with GPS tracking and checked in on us every 20 minutes during the shift to see if we were working. Yet, the paper sign in sheet I signed, which only they have a copy of, is what they’re claiming is evidence that I didn’t work the shift. However, since they are lazy and cruel, they’re waiting for their client to go in and fix it. Themselves. The abusive client who lies all the time and has no incentive to fix it. That’s who my fate lies with.

I’ve told gigsmart I haven’t eaten in three days due to the money I had to spend to work the shift, and they still won’t approve my pay, because the egotistical account manager doesn’t understand the fundamentals of business and how this has an affect on their job and company.

These issues happen all the time and they play dumb. No matter how many issues you spot down the road, they’ll tell you not to worry about it, only for what you said would happen to come true. Of course by that point it’s too late to do anything.

I’m so sick of dumb, bad business people who think they’re smart because they’re cut throat.
