I work in the food industry, and it’s always been something I’ve really enjoyed. The one problem I have with it is the amount of places that use “blackout days” in scheduling.
Now the food industry is a nearly 365 days a year industry, so I understand the concept of having certain busy days people can’t take off, but I also find it ridiculous.
My biggest problem with it is that I was in college in a very large college town. My employers knew I was in school out of state and had to leave my dorm for holidays or I would get a fee charged to my account. Not a small one either. Like hundreds of dollars. But they still would not let me take those days off to go home, and even threatened termination if I didn’t work them.
I understand the point of these scheduling restrictions but I hate them. Does anyone else feel the same way?
